<\/p>I won\u2019t say it was a guilt-free process, but I threw out the four Phalaenopsis orchids that were in the window garden today. \u00a0The Paphiopedilums were spared (this time), as one of them looks so incredibly healthy\u2013even though it hasn\u2019t bloomed for a few years, I couldn\u2019t just throw it out!\n

In the open space of that south-facing window tray, I planted a \u00a0batch of seeds today, including the following:<\/p>\n

Onixotis stricta (this is a water-lover, so the seeds were planted in mud.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Freesia laxa \u201cBlue\u201d<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Leucocoryne vittata<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Phaenocoma prolifera<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Dorstenia mix<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Marlothistella stenophylla<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Dorotheanthus bellidiformis<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Pink Rain Lily<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Massonia depressa<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Tritonia crispa<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Gasteria liliputana (photo from worldofsucculents.com<\/a>)<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Lithops optica \u201cRubra\u201d\u00a0(photo from worldofsucculents.com<\/a>)<\/p>\n

All of these seeds were from several years ago, so I don\u2019t anticipate I\u2019ll get many seedlings. \u00a0I\u2019m giving them my best shot, though, to see what surprises might appear in the next few months. \u00a0Come March, the pots and trays will get moved to the greenhouse and I\u2019ll start some annual and veggie seeds in the window tray.<\/p>\n
