<\/p>I transplanted some things this weekend. \u00a0The first batch were tomatoes, a variety called Black Vernissage. \u00a0They appear very strong and are ahead of the seedlings started sooner, but moved to the cold frame after transplanting.\n

I also transplanted a bunch of lettuce seedlings\u2013this one Red Deer Tongue.<\/p>\n

The seeds were from Renee\u2019s and can be purchased here: \u00a0https:\/\/www.reneesgarden.com\/products\/lettuce-red-deer-tongue. \u00a0Almost every seed germinated, but they weren\u2019t showing much red color yet\u2013hopefully, that will come with age.<\/p>\n

The last big batch of seedlings were dianthus starts from seeds I harvested from plants Leon had put in the patio pots last year. \u00a0There were probably 50 of these seedlings. \u00a0I put 36 of them in six-packs, two to a cell, and put the rest in larger pots. \u00a0These may not be as brilliant as their hybrid parent, but they are growing very strongly and I can\u2019t wait to see what the flowers look like. \u00a0The parents looked like this:<\/p>\n

The sages and snapdragons needed to be potted on, as well, so I moved them to larger pots in the greenhouse. \u00a0The salvias are a Salvia coccinea\u00a0mix\u2013I don\u2019t recall which one. \u00a0The snapdragons were a dwarf double pot-type, but I don\u2019t specifically remember which one! \u00a0It will be fun when they get to blooming size and remind me what I ordered.<\/p>\n

Another task accomplished this weekend was to go through all of my seeds and put the direct sow and the ones I\u2019ve given up on into a plastic container. \u00a0I mixed in some sand\u00a0and spread the mix around the garden by the fence in the orchard bed. \u00a0There were shirley poppies, bachelor buttons, wallflowers and many others. \u00a0I am hopeful that some of them get a foothold. \u00a0We certainly had enough rain today for them to get off to a good start!<\/p>\n

My plan to turn the parking strip into a gorgeous flower border moved forward yesterday when I ordered a bunch of perennial seeds to get started in May. \u00a0I ordered from Swallowtail Garden Seeds<\/a>, a company I\u2019ve not used before.<\/p>\n
