Mid-May Update"},"content":{"rendered":"<body><p><\/p>I didn\u2019t make it out to the garden this weekend, except to look around. \u00a0This afternoon it rained like mad, which was fine with me. \u00a0I took the opportunity to dip a lot of water out of the rain barrel and thoroughly water the greenhouse plants. \u00a0I haven\u2019t had to use the hose yet for any watering\u2026which is great for the plants and the water bill, but tells you how wet the weather has been, as well. \u00a0It takes 6 or 7 watering cans full of water to hit all the greenhouse plants and that takes the barrel down pretty low for the three goldfish that live in there. \u00a0Today, though, it was raining so hard that the water was filling in as I pulled it out.\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/gardenescapades.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/CF1B418B-ED24-4DA5-86A9-B32EAF7C5427_zpssnvefwnz.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" white-starred red one that I\u2019ve had for many years. \u00a0This little red one is gorgeous!<\/p>\n<p><a \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I was happy to see some of the perennial seedlings up in the trays I planted last weekend. \u00a0These are yarrow seedlings. \u00a0There are three types of yarrow in the tray and all \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>If there was a \u201cweed of the year\u201d contest, Freesia laxa might win. \u00a0These are flowers on my original pot of them from Edelweiss\u00a0Perennials maybe five years ago. \u00a0Each flower forms a pod filled with gorgeous red-brown shiny seeds that pop out into all the surrounding pots. \u00a0I tried moving some of the offspring into the garden, as they are said to be hardy, but I haven\u2019t seen any of them come back up. \u00a0Luckily, there are dozens more popping up every minute! \u00a0The color here is a bit brash. \u00a0The other types I\u2019ve started from seed are either bluer or whiter and would be easier to mix into displays.<\/p>\n<p><a
