<\/a><\/p>\nThis stunner is a six- or seven-year-old seedling that is blooming for the first time.\u00a0 The scape was up under the shelves, and I almost didn\u2019t see it in the overstuffed greenhouse.\u00a0 I\u2019m so glad I did, though.\u00a0 I\u2019m thrilled to finally be reaping the rewards of patience in growing some Clivia cultivars from seed, as I\u2019m getting some cool, gorgeous flowers.<\/p>\n
Another view\u2026this is a \u201cQuail x WL Nakamura\u201d cross.<\/p>\n Slightly different view.<\/p>\n And another view.\u00a0 Lots of flowers for a first-time bloomer.<\/p>\n Another first-time bloomer, this is a \u201cSalmon x TL Peach\u201d cross.\u00a0 It is so light, it is almost white, with just a few splotches of pink and yellow petal stripes and throat.<\/p>\n More views\u2013you can see the other buds coming along.<\/p>\n Here is a second-time bloomer, but the first flower is deformed, with only three petals.\u00a0 The color is great, though, a very light apricot yellow.<\/p>\n The Pleione formosana bulbs are blooming in the greenhouse now.\u00a0 I love these Himalayan crocus\u00a0flowers.<\/p>\n Antoher\u00a0view.<\/p>\n And another.\u00a0 this pot had six flowers this year.\u00a0 I have a bunch of baby\u00a0pseudobulbs starting now that should bloom in a year or two.<\/p>\n The Masdevallias continue to put on a show.<\/p>\n There are three plants here in 4\u2033 pots, each with several flowers open at once.<\/p>\n One of the prettiest things in the greenhouse is this dying geranium leaf.\u00a0 I\u2019m not sure why it turned such bright colors!<\/p>\n Out in the Doug fir\u00a0bed, the Anemone blanda has a few more flowers than last week.<\/p>\n This Hellebore hybrid in the Doug fir\u00a0bed continues to look good, at least from a distance.<\/p>\n Closer up, you can see the dark spots on some of the flowers that showed up this year.<\/p>\n An even closer view.<\/p>\n Here is the Hellebore that brother Tim gave me 20+ years ago.\u00a0 It has a graceful habit, but you have to get pretty low to see what the flowers look like inside.<\/p>\n t The spots inside are worth kneeling down.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n I\u2019m decorating the front patio area with potted spring bulbs as they start to flower.\u00a0 The hyacinths are all blooming this week, so I\u2019ve added a bunch to the show.<\/p>\n Cheerful pansies in a bright blue pot.<\/p>\n The Camellia near the orchard garden is opening flowers in the warm sun this week.\u00a0 This is about the size of most of the flowers.<\/p>\n But somehow, there is also a giant flower on the plant\u2013this one is like three buds opened as one flower\u2013it is huge!<\/p>\n Another flower in the sunlight.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n<\/body>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" I did some gardening this weekend, including planting about 50 more plants in the parking strip garden, transplanting some seedlings, and reorganizing the greenhouse a bit.\u00a0 \u00a0 And I was so glad that I dove deeper into the greenhouse because I found one of my myriad Clivia seedlings was blooming.
