<\/a><\/p>\nHere\u2019s a fun combination\u2013garlic chives and rhubarb.<\/p>\n
I\u2019m excited that this rhubarb has taken hold after more than a year\u2026I will be able to harvest some next year.<\/p>\n Himalayan blackberries in the raised beds.\u00a0 They produced really well this year, mostly because they got a little water.\u00a0 The wilder ones in the neighborhood did not have good berries this year.<\/p>\n More blackberry pictures\u2013I really love these berries!<\/p>\n The wonderful arboretum rose is blooming really well\u2013its second big burst of the summer.\u00a0 The fragrance is amazing, as always.<\/p>\n Close up of a rosebud.<\/p>\n Phlox \u201cLaura\u201d is my favorite visually, but there are others that appeal to my nose more.<\/p>\n Asters remain unfazed by the dry, hot summer.\u00a0 They are putting on a real show now in the various gardens, especially the Armando garden.<\/p>\n More asters in the driveway bed.<\/p>\n More arboretum rose pics.<\/p>\n One drawback this year has been that the old flowers cling to the vines, along with the new buds.\u00a0 I think rain and wind usually help clean the plants, but we haven\u2019t had any of that, so they cling on much longer.<\/p>\n More phlox pictures.<\/p>\n And more.\u00a0 I had cut these back in early June, which made them branch out and bloom a bit later.\u00a0 The pink blooms are much more fragrant than the lavender\/whites.\u00a0 I\u2019m glad I have them planted together!<\/p>\n<\/body>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Here are a few photos from around the garden this weekend.
