<\/a><\/p>\nHere are two of the new Streptocarpus<\/em> plants that I started from leaf cuttings last year.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n The stem broke on this one, so I had to lift them up to get a photo\u2026great color and patterns, though.<\/p>\n Another view.<\/p>\n One of the smaller seedling Impatiens that I grew from seed getting its first flower now!<\/p>\n Pristine white Streptocarpus<\/em> named \u201cAngelina Jolie.\u201d<\/p>\n Another Cape Primrose from the leaf cuttings I got from an eBay seller last year.<\/p>\n This pot of Pleione orchids has gotten really crowded.\u00a0 There will be dozens of bulblets in a month or so, and I\u2019ll peel them off and pot them together in a separate pot or two.\u00a0 I think it will take about three years for me to get blooming size plants from the bulblets.<\/p>\n The big story with this part of the shelf is that I threw away the original Sinningia leuchotircha<\/em> caudex.\u00a0 I had that plant for ten or so years and it had gotten huge, but a few years ago, all the buds died out at the top, and it never recovered.<\/p>\n This shelf contains an assortment of bulbs\u2013Hippeastrums, <\/em>inlcuding seedlings of H. mondonii,\u00a0<\/em>Habranthus robustus, Watsonia, Ferraria,\u00a0<\/em>and a few unknowns from a mixed seed packet.<\/p>\n Another view of one of the bulb shelves.\u00a0 The\u00a0Veltheimia bracteata bulbs are here, too.\u00a0 <\/em>They didn\u2019t bloom last year for the first time in a long time, so I added some more fertile soil under and over the root balls without disturbing the roots.<\/p>\n This shelf has cactus,\u00a0Gasterias, <\/em>and an Aloiniopsis rurbrolineata\u00a0<\/em>that I grew from seed five or six years ago.<\/p>\n This is the\u00a0Streptocarpus\u00a0<\/em>shelf\u2013probably ten different plants, most of them are ten or so years old, but still productive.<\/p>\n Some plants not shown clearly in these photos that I potted on or divided include the hybrid red and white\u00a0Hippeastrum<\/em> that I\u2019ve had for a long time.\u00a0 Not only does it bloom every year,\u00a0 but it sets seeds, and the seedlings have sprung up in pots all over the greenhouse.\u00a0 I must have more than a dozen bulbs of this hybrid now!\u00a0 There were offsets as well as the seedlings.<\/p>\n Also prolifically seeding around is the Hippeastrelia<\/em>\u00a0hybrid.\u00a0 I potted all of the seedlings in separate pots and in good soil.\u00a0 There are about a dozen pots of these now, too, and I divided the original pot of bulbs, which was very congested!<\/p>\n Other seedlings I potted on are\u00a0Agapanthus praecox\u2013<\/em>I got five seedlings from the plant I grew from seed about seven years ago.<\/p>\n This view shows the\u00a0Strelitzia reginae, Sinningia tubiflora,\u00a0<\/em>and the three divisions of\u00a0Impatiens flanaganae,\u00a0<\/em>a tall tuberous type.\u00a0 \u00a0I also divided the old butterfly amaryllis I\u2019ve had for 20 years.\u00a0 I has only flowered once or twice in all that time!\u00a0 The bulbs were pretty small, but seemed healthy enough.<\/p>\n This corner of a shelf has some vines tangled up, including an old succulent one that I\u2019ve never identified,\u00a0Thunbergia alata,\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0Eccremocarpus scaber.<\/em><\/p>\n This lower shelf has two\u00a0Billbergia nutans,\u00a0<\/em>with\u00a0Clivia miniata\u00a0<\/em>hybrids that I grew from seed in front.<\/p>\n More\u00a0Clivia\u00a0<\/em>seedlings.\u00a0 These are all mostly blooming size now, and I expect they should bloom next year.<\/p>\n Another\u00a0Clivia\u00a0<\/em>seedling.<\/p>\n This shelf is pretty empty, with just a\u00a0Bowiea volubilis\u00a0<\/em>and a pot with stock geranium plants.<\/p>\n Another bottom shelf with\u00a0Clivia\u00a0<\/em>seedlings.\u00a0 \u00a0Hoping for a great show come March\/April.<\/p>\n Here is the massive\u00a0Coelogyne cristata\u00a0<\/em>that I\u2019ve had for ten or so years.\u00a0 I did not repot this plant.\u00a0 I\u2019m not really sure how I will when the time comes, but it bloomed well this year, so I\u2019m hoping it will again next year and I can deal with repotting it afterwards.<\/p>\n<\/body>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" I was able to spend about ten hours last weekend on the greenhouse and potting bench.\u00a0 I can\u2019t remember the last time I was able to carve out that much time for the plants.\u00a0 Every plant got some much-needed attention.\u00a0 Here are some \u201cafter\u201d photos.
