<\/a><\/p>\nStreptocarpus are blooming generously in the greenhouse after finally getting a little attention from a delinquent gardener.\u00a0 They are very forgiving.<\/p>\n
This is such a vigorous cultivar that I\u2019ve ended up with several of them\u2013they root very easily and bloom magnificently over a long season.<\/p>\n Dozens of flowers on these plants!<\/p>\n Another view.<\/p>\n Angelina Jolie is not my favorite actress, but she\u2019s trying hard to be my favorite Streptocarpus!<\/p>\n Not sure which cultivar this is, but it is striking.<\/p>\n Brother Tim gave me a small plant of this Chrysanthemum several years ago, and it was neglected in the greenhouse for several years.\u00a0 I finally took cuttings from that original plant and put one in the garden in front of the greenhouse.\u00a0 It has turned out to be an excellent addition and bloomed at just the right time when everything else was packing it in for the year.<\/p>\n Different view\u2026<\/p>\n This plant has quite a few flowers\u2013not covered the way some of the florist mums are, but definitely showy.<\/p>\n The rose Europeana has one last flower.<\/p>\n Asters are still making some waves in the driveway bed.<\/p>\n Another view.<\/p>\n The witch hazel is bright yellow right now.\u00a0 The leaves will be gone in a few days\u2013this is a short-lived show.<\/p>\n A full view of the witch hazel shrub\u2013you can see that the leaves at the ends of branches are already gone.<\/p>\n Ceratostigma blooming quietly in the orchard bed.<\/p>\n Osteospermum \u201cAkila\u201d have responded well to cutting back and feeding, but they won\u2019t get flowers again before frost.\u00a0 I\u2019ll move them into the greenhouse and hope they make it through the winter.<\/p>\n I bought the Nemesia in this window box early in the spring.\u00a0 It has been much more resilient that I would have believed\u2013this box is tough to water and keep moist.\u00a0 \u00a0I pruned everything back last month and it is growing back beautifully.<\/p>\n Pelargonium \u201cPetals\u201d really shines in the autumn after getting all those amazing leaves through the summer.<\/p>\n Not in my garden, but worthy of note\u2013these are Boston ivy-clad walls at North Seattle College.<\/p>\n My absolute favorite new greenhouse plant is this Thunbergia from brother Tim.\u00a0 It has grown really well and bloomed endlessly.\u00a0 \u00a0I will try to get cuttings of it, and figure out a way to grow it and show it off for next year.<\/p>\n Another newer Streptocarpus\u2013lots of netting and frills on this one.<\/p>\n This is the first time this Streptocarpus has bloomed.\u00a0 It is pretty fun\u2013no two flowers are alike!<\/p>\n Another view\u2013this is a true blue, too, which I can never get enough of.<\/p>\n<\/body>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Here are some quick pics I took around the garden and greenhouse today.
