More May standouts

No time to write much, but wanted to download some photos to caption at some later date.

This appears to be Clivia nobilis blooming in the GH
I love this rose (an arboretum seedling) when it blooms. It smells great and the bees love it. I need to cut it back as soon as blooming is over.
A wall of black locust trees at Lower Woodland Park–the fragrance was sweet and strong
Sinningia “Freckles” in the window at work–I am trying gesneriad seeds in the cups to the right.
I’m so excited about this Pelargonium species blooming in the GH–it is a caudiciform plant that I’ve had for 7+ years and it has never bloomed before.

The yard looked pretty amazing in May, with iris blooming and the rhododendrons by the house exploding with color.

I have more amaryllis (Hippeastrum) bulbs than I probably should, but the rewards are great. Five of them spiked this year. This one looks like Appleblossom.

The neighbors down 137th have this fence made of wisteria. It only blooms for maybe 10 days, but it looks and smells great.
I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a holly bloom before, so I took a photo of one in a local yard.

Bleeding hearts bloomed later this year–this one from Sister Cate

Golden chains may be weedy, but they are glorious for about a week each year

Asian pears–this espalier tree grafted with multiple cultivars has not been productive at all–I think it must be too shady where it lives

The cherry set a lot of fruit, but dropped almost all of them before they ripened

Jacob’s ladder near the driveway–this has been a strong performer for ten+ years.
Geranium phaeum–this plant grew larger than ever this year and bloomed for more than a month. I am hoping it sets seeds, as I’d like more of them.

This one was showy for a long time. I’m letting all of them go to seed and hoping to get some interesting seedlings.
This columbine looks great with the catmint.
The warm weather cut shortened the duration of the lupine show this year, but the colors were great.
The Chaenorhinum bloomed nicely this year. They are delicate and subtle. I’ve since cut them back and am hoping for a second flush of bloom.
The only seedling oriental poppy turned out to be a fairly standard orangey-red. I have a dozen or so more seedlings to plant out this year.

The boxwood cuttings that I found last year appear to have taken finally! One of the, at least, is getting new leaves.

Coelogyne flowers. This orchid bloomed for over a month this year.

I divided the Pleione formosana pot this spring, and it was PACKED with bulbs and bulblets.
I ended up getting six pots of Pleione formosana divisions from the one pot. I’m hoping for a LOT more flowers next year.
